Akai-chō The capital of Ueno, and its largest town, located on the coast of the Ura Inlet. It was built around Akai-ki, an ancient stronghold, which currently serves as the main seat of the Settsu clan. |

Ueno-sakyū Yamatai's largest sand dunes, located near the base of the Saki Peninsula in southeastern Ueno. It was created over a period of thousands of years, by deposits of sediment from the Takane Mountains, carried by the Chitose River toward the ocean. Strong currents and the wind pushed the sand back onto the shore, where its shape is constantly shifting due the sea breeze. |
