The Archaean League
League Color: Violet
Major Gentillic(s): Archaeans; [Pialeites (coastal Archaean), Syrosians (Southern hill-folk, distant Cisalpine relation)] Ismaean, Amoraean, Tingitanaean
Languages spoken: Archaean, Amoraean, Ismaean,
Capital of the League: Sterna
Praesides: Pialeia, Syros
Pialeia
Praeside Capital: Mistros
Province(s): Kropia, Aeginia
Languages spoken: Archaean , Amoraean
Background:
Truly the picture of Archaea that most citizens of the former empire did think of when they heard the name Archaea; picturesque islands, ancient cities, exotic markets brimming with goods from every corner of the realm, carried across the seas by the mighty Mistran fleet. Proving to be one of the first legitimate foes of the Amoraean Empire, the Archaeans present in Pialeia proved a naval challenge for several decades before being finally subdued. Now Pialeia serves as the proverbial bread-basket for Archaea, both as a trading hub and a veritable capital of the land’s burgeoning fishing industry.
Kropia
Settled long before the many islands that dot the Shiraz sea under the Archaean banner, Kropia is the Archaean’s claim to the mainland bordering Tingitanaea. The ancient capital of the region, before Imperial occupation, Skyros, still dominates Kropia, though her renowned steel has given way to a port to challenge that of mighty Mistros, as Skyros had proven a valuable supply line for the Empire’s conquest of the region. From fertile fields to the south to dusty orchards in the north, the white beaches of the coast to the cold passes of the Aliman mountains, Kropia provides a great deal for the Archaean war machine, and Sterna knows this.
Aeginia
Truly the jewel of the Shiraz, Aeginia stretches from the vast isle of Thedas in the west to the shores of Iesinoria in the east. Well over a hundred island states have pledged their allegiance to the League, some powerful, some meek, but all beautiful and rich with wealth from Cisalpine to Yamatai. What would otherwise be tempting targets for the Imperial Remnant in the north or more dastardly foes to the east are now staging points for the League; the hardy sea-farers are supplied with wood from the mainland. Each of these island states now boasting a ‘wooden wall’ of their own in the form of the Archaean Navy, the many crests of the league a dreadful warning to any who would dare attempt to enslave the realm again.
Syros
Praeside Capital: Sterna
Province(s): Syros
Languages spoken: Archaean, Ismaean,
Background:
The home land of Archaean culture, it was out of the southern mountains of Syros that the first Archaean armies marched to reclaim the northern lands and isles from the grip of the Tingitanaean invaders, and set sail for the eastern isles, wresting them from the grip of the Yamatai foreigners. There was, of course, only one path in the days of old to ensure Archaea’s survival – war, for this not only is the homeland of the Archaean people, but the homeland of Archaeus, their God of War. Thus, war with any and all that could threaten their pristine and magnificent realm was the logical conclusion. No longer do the Archaean people worry themselves with survival, but liberation of all those who are still trapped under the yoke of kings, and as before there is only one path available to the Syrosians – war with the tyrants’ thrall armies, and the extermination of all those who would oppose their crusade.
