Laid out below are the rules of Remnants of an Empire:
1. One character per account. (Your display name should be the name of the character the account is made for - this is done to prevent confusion and frustration for no reason whatsoever.)
2. Keep the same OOC name throughout all your accounts, again to avoid confusion.
3. Don't be a jerk.
4. By joining you agree to read more history. Just a general thing I'd throw out there.
5. Nothing outside of the 5th century technology wise unless explicitly approved. That means no katanas, no firearms, no sabres, no scimitars, no plate mail, none of that late medieval stuff. This is roughly equivalent to 420 C.E. in real life, and we want to keep in that time period as much as possible, but this will not be exact. Women, for example, have a lot more freedom in Amoraea than in real life, and that's absolutely fine. Historical accuracy is fine but we don't want to force everyone to be a housewife or suck the fun out of it.
6. No powerplaying, god-modding, etc. and all the other basic stuff.
7. Posting in more than one thread is absolutely fine. Just be able to tell the order in which they occurred.
8. This is a historical RP. This means this is essentially a real-life RP, no elves, dwarves, dragons, demigods, or magic flying ponies. Just good old humans.
9. Harassing other members, passively or directly, for posts is not okay.
10. Playbys are mandatory. I don't care if it's a real life playby, an anime or manga character, a hand drawn picture, or a scanned picture of a stickman face on lined paper you post up on your character profile. I need a graphic for Of the Months should your character win one, and that requires a graphic of some sort.
1. Troop movement must be reasonable. This will be determined on a case by case basis, taking into account gear, training, experience, etc. A legion should not be marching 50 miles in a day, as it is silly and unfair to others.
2. A battle will not start in the actual battle. Scouting, reconnaissance, the actual movement and positioning of the troops and reaction must take place as well either in that thread or in another - giving the defender time to react if they realize your force's presence. Pre-battle maneuvering is a part of generalship, and will not be overlooked.
3. Only use what your character would know in your battle plans. No matter how good your general is, you can and will eventually lose a battle. You might even be taken prisoner, and if you refuse you will either flee or die trying. Do not "cheat", and use OOC info to your advantage in a battle, it's unfair and defeats the purpose. If your character is cleverly tricked, he or she is cleverly tricked. There are no sudden last second revelations - and even if there are the whole 'last second' thing makes it waay too late to position your troops to react.
4. Win or lose, record losses and gains in land/destruction or capturing of fortifications/etc. in the appropriate threads.
5. Have fun. Most important one.
