Alexander Decimus Felix
Felix, Alex, Umbra - or Shadow
Felix, Alex, Umbra - or Shadow
Age: 26
Religion and Language: Amoraean Paganism is his religion, that of the state. He is versed in many languages due to his work with the Arcani, being able to speak fluent Amoraean, Cisal, Archaean, and even Norskan.
Faction Loyalty: The New Amoraean Empire
Alignment: Neutral
Profession: Arcani
Appearance:
Alexander is five feet ten inches in height, and one hundred and sixty eight pounds in weight with piercing blue eyes. Lean and muscular, he looks every bit the warrior he is. Movements crisp and disciplined, his line of work hammering it into him from childhood, where one mistake could cost you your life, you learn to move with a certain grace and ease of motion.
Personality:
Alexander's life has been a short one filled with much conflict and loss, turmoil and change, and he has developed an emotional shell around him to conpensate. On the outside, he's extremely outgoing and conversational, because that's part of being an arcani - appearing as if you belong. Another, unfortunantely, is not allowing yourself to get too close to the people around you, because especially in this job they could be dead the next morning and not a soul would care, no official word given. This has hardened him, and despite the grace in which he carries himself and his outgoing manner there is a certain coldness about him as a result. He is also, nearly without err, at least on the outside completely and utterly calm under even the worst situations. It is another thing that kept him alive all of these years, under such harsh conditions.
History:
The Felix name is an old one, but not a well-known one. Alexander's father, Maximus Felix was also an Arcani - and wanted his son to be one as well, as was how most operatives got their start. Family ties, indoctrinated at a young age, and put through a series of grueling tests, physical and mental, obvious and hidden, not knowing what for but doing it anyway. It tested your resolve, your determination, your discretion, and your ability to lie. Each of these traits, and many others must be cultivated, as each of these skills were completely necessary to become one of the Arcani.
Alexander was being watched and mentored and tested since the age of 10 for the job, and normally the unseen testing would last well into young adulthood, but the Northmen invasion sped things up considerably. His father died alongside the Emperor in Amoraea while Alexander had fatefully been training in Archenridge - advancing more quickly even then than most due to his family ties and learning the skills needed to become a member of the Arcani, a clandestine organization which handled the dirty work of the country, and oversaw some of its most delicate operations of international peace and warfare. Political assassinations, guarding important persons, and black operations were very well within the purview of an arcani... And the fall of the Empire forced Alexander and others like him - not fully trained by any means - to learn on the fly. The next ten years have passed as a blur to him, and since there are no records there is no tangible records of where he's been - other than his own mind - like all other arcani.
When your world has fallen apart and all living relatives are murdered - and it's all caused by the same people... You tend to develop a very specialized type of hatred for them. The arcani do not have records, and it is extremely hard to contact or identify any of their operatives, and even their existence is left to the people in the highest seats of power in Amoraea. Even most Senators know not of their existence, and they are simply a myth to most of the land.
Since the fall of the Empire, Alexander has become very adept at interrogation and fighting both individually and as a small group - as arcani are most often deployed. In his short life, he has fought up and down the land of present day Amoraea, fighting back the Northmen and the horsepeople advances, and interrogating the prisoners for valuable information that led to more land gain and less casualties. Even Alexander himself doesn't remember exactly how many places he's been, but he's had to adapt to changing position far more often than a common legionnaire would ever experience, and has learned to adapt exceedingly well to changing situations.
As an Arcani, he treads in a very dangerous and almost mythical part of the Amoraean culture. He doesn't technically exist, and if caught Amoraea can plausibly deny any and all involvement as to what he does. He also operates outside of the law, being able to do whatever it takes to accomplish the mission at hand. Simply put, the Arcani are put to impose Amoraea's will on the places its legions and senators cannot, and are trusted absolutely to do their mission by any means necessary.
Over the past decade, Alexander has matured from a naive sixteen year old to a forged by fire warrior, diplomat, and assassin of a unique skill-set, specializing in close combat. Not really a diplomat, not really an assassin, not really a soldier... He's expected to be a master of all trades and jack of none, and so far he's managed to not fail in large enough a manner to get himself killed - which is all he can hope for given the circumstances.
Strengths/Weaknesses (Arcani Operative: Grand Strategy and Small Scale-Individual.)
Strengths:
Stealth: Alexander, in his years of serving as an agent of the Arcani, has learned the art of stealth quite well. Training from childhood gave him the basics, and the threat of torture and a brutally painful death have helped him keep his form refined.
Levelheaded: Alexander has an uncanny ability to keep his head even in the most dire of situations, due to intense training and experience.
Hyperfocus: Alexander can, simply put, put away any and all distractions in pursuit of his objective. This allows him to keep a clear head, and not be deterred from his mission.
Determined: He's not a quitter in any sense of the word, and will push above and beyond his limits to accomplish something he deems necessary.
Adaptability: Simply put, it's his job to find a way to survive in damn near every situation, and has learned both ways of manipulating people and ways of surviving even under the harshest conditions with no outside help to make him better at his job.
Weaknesses:
Hyperfocus: Due to his single-mindedness, he can miss important details because he hyperfocuses on one particular thing about a person, thing, room, or mission.
Determined: Quite frankly, Alexander is stubborn sometimes. Sometimes he just flat out refuses to budge when he has a goal in mind... And that can be a weakness as well.
Gambler: Alex is a risk-taker in every part of his life. In risk vs. reward, the reward justifies the risk in almost every situation in his mind. If there is a chance to get a greater reward, why would you not pursue it?
Coldness: He has a hard time getting close to anyone, and thus gaining people's loyalty. He doesn't have friends, he has allies given to him for the mission - and that only goes so far.
Zealotry: Simply put, he believes he's acting on the orders of a higher power - his country, and will take his determination to the logical extreme of outright zealotry. Indoctrinated at a young age, disobeying an order is akin to suicide - and he does not question even the most brutal of orders as a result.

Dislikes: Idiots, fools, drunkards, losing, things being too easy, poorly made objects, selfishness, the Northmen, politicians, inefficiency, togas or anything else that restricted mobility.
