Appearance:
Qasim's appearance is a deceptive one. His friendly and unscarred face gives off the impression of a merchant or politician rather than a warrior. However, this face is situated at the top of a 6'2 man whose extremely muscular build is covered in the marks of past fights and punishments.
Personality:
Qasim is well known by those around him for his vicious temper, though it is hard to set off if a person agitates him enough, he will do everything in his power to either have them killed or make their life hell. As this often manifests in physical confrontations, many underestimate him as a brute. Truly, when the situation calls for it, he is both charismatic and a cunning strategist. Despite this ability in the political and social realm, he revels in war and combat and would always rather pillage and destroy the cities of his enemies over obtaining them through agreements and alliances. Along with all of the listed traits, Qasim is generally an enjoyable person, to those in his favor, if he feels it necessary to do so he is capable and willing to do acts which the average man would consider atrocious or cruel.
History:
Qasim was born a member of one of the least respected clans in Ismaea, a nomadic and ancient clan which traditionally only inhabits the hottest and least hospitable terrain in the Ismaean desert. Doing so because few other humans are capable of surviving the areas in which they claim dominion. An unfortunate implication of living in such an area has always meant that the clan is unable to sustain a large food supply of their own, meaning that besides a few goat herders per group, clan members have no reliable food source. Thus another part of tradition for the clan is the raiding of caravan routes. Seizing the supplies, animals, and people which flow through the caravan routes through force, and then trading them in exchange for food with disreputable city merchants is the general way of life for the tribesmen.
As a result of being brought up in a society where violence is common, accepted, and damn near required to survive. Qasim was born a warrior. Yet it quickly became clear to him at a young age that he was the best of his people, who were naturally gifted fighters, and that HIS people were the best of all people. This sense of superiority sparked a dream, that he would lead an army which would conquer the sands. That he would rule over the major houses, and they would scavenge for his scraps rather than the other way around.
His first step to achieving this dream was to take over the tribe which he belonged to, one of the larger tribes in the clan, this step was to defeat the chieftain in combat. This was not difficult, as Qasim was known to the be best fighter in the tribe, and the chief was an aging man who no longer even rode amongst the raiding parties. Qasim cut him down easily. Though it was an important victory, it contained little magnitude. Giving Qasim a mostly ceremonial control of a hundred warriors, it was not exactly a game-changing event. From there he began to show that he was in utmost control, cutting down all of those who opposed his actions, until it was clear that he was in charge. Once his power in the individual tribe was cemented, he delivered the message to all of those in his clan.
They would join his camp, or they would die.

It made an extremely unpleasant noise as the head was pushed further down the spike.
Qasim removed his foot from the head and looked around, surveying his good work. Bodies of those who decided it was a good idea to fight back littered the sand, their spilled blood literally boiling in the heat of the sun. A few remaining women and children had taken shelter in a tent and were refusing to come out, so his men were busy lighting a torch in order to set the tent aflame. They had had an easy time of this attack, the chief's son and most of their warriors were out raiding, so only the chief and a few guards were left with most of the women and children. Qasim and his men had killed the guards and taken some of the women as slaves, though they had left most so that the chief's son could reconsider the offer Qasim had generously given his father before.
Qasim looked down at the former chief, and smiled. Then proceeded to give the head a few more kicks until he felt it was at a good location on the spike.
Suddenly, screams, followed by a distinct smell of burning flesh, began to come from the tent. Qasim did not need to look in the direction which they came from, it was not something he was unused to. Leaving burnt bodies for relatives to see was always a good tactic for sending a message. He had used it before, when he was just beginning to start his army, and now he had a thousand warriors rather than a few tens or hundreds.
He whistled for the attention of his men, and nodded his head, they fell silent, and without a single word spoken the group mounted their horses and began to ride.
